New Snow uses AI to create new ways for visitors to engage with the work of Edward Munch.

The project started in the MUNCH Lab and has been developed in two iterations New Snow 1 and New Snow 2. In 2026 the project will become a major exhibition bringing AI experience and works on paper together to create an opportunity for visitors to engage with the works on paper collection in an entirely new way.

New Snow – is a novel application of AI technologies that creates intimate experiences between visitors and works on paper from the museums collections.

I provided strategy advice, training for senior leadership, mentorship to project team, and have written a number of papers and interpretative texts to support the projects development and delivery. The focus of this work has been on developing a strategic application of AI technologies that aligns with the values and purpose of the museum. This work builds on the Ethics Framework I developed through the Museums + AI Network and Museums and AI Ethics Toolkit.
