PhD

I’m currently doing a PhD jointly in the Centre for Media Research, and The Arts and Humanities Research Institute at the University of Ulster. My research looks at museum practice, innovation and digital uptake within museums in Northern Ireland. A central question that my research seeks to answer is, why are some museums more innovative than others?
Whilst my PhD is not practice based, increasingly it has become practice led. Developing and delivering workshops and training programmes has become a core research method and indeed research outcome. These workshops are influenced by international best practice, but tailored to the the Northern Ireland museum sector.
Whilst my research looks at Northern Ireland, the overarching theme of innovation and digital practice within museums means that my research is of wider relevance to the sector internationally.
